The most common types of hair loss are Male and Female Pattern Hair Loss, often caused by lifestyle changes and stress. One may notice the hairline receding, a gradual decrease in hair density and evident balding in the central portion of the scalp in Male Pattern Hair Loss, also called Androgenic Alopecia (AGA).

Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL) usually begins as an increasing gap in the midline partition of the hair. In other cases of FPHL, the central portion is involved. In Alopecia Areata, coin-shaped patches of hair loss are mostly seen on the scalp. However, it can also involve the entire scalp and eyebrows. Some types of alopecia, called Scarring Alopecia, can result in permanent hair loss.

Vitiligo is a skin condition in which pigment-producing cells of the body (melanocytes) are destroyed in certain areas. It causes the body to lose its natural colour, and patches of lighter colour appear. The face and trauma-prone areas like the knees and elbows are commonly involved.

Myths Vs Facts
